| Miroku is cursed with a hole in the palm of his right hand (called kazanna) that, when not sealed by a length of prayer beads, sucks in everything in its path. It grows as time progresses, and threatens to one day envelope him as it did his father and grandfather, who each passed the curse down upon their death. In addition, he also has spiritual powers - He can preform exorcisms, and has the ability to sense demonic/evil presences and holy ones, and the ability to create small holy barriers. Miroku lived in California with his father until the age of six, when his father succumbed to the kazanna and died, passing it on to his son. Miroku was left to the care of an old friend of his father's, named Mushin, who happened to be very knowledgeable about curses, holy powers, and other related topics. He taught Miroku many things, including how to harness his spiritual powers, how to seal his kazanna, and how to womanize and drink. Still, Mushin is a very capable guardian and Miroku loves him very much. Mushin decided after Miroku's eleventh birthday that he needed to send him to the hands of someone who could better teach him to utilize his powers and care for his curse, that he may survive long enough to rid himself and his line of it, and so enrolled him in Meillure Academy for the next year. Miroku returns home to Mushin occasionally to have his kazanna checked out and sometimes, if needed, stitched up around the edges. |

He's shared some of his personal thoughts with her, and some other personal things that put her in the "friends with benefits" position. Millay is pretty much his favorite person at the school so far, and the closest friend he's got. Their relationship is not easily described, and Miroku's not absolutely sure how he feels about her. Regardless, since he's dying and she's engaged, there's no way he could have feelings for her....Right? |
